Hydraulic Motor Test Stand
This particular test stand was designed to perform various tests on a heavy duty hydraulic motor. The operator uses a custom gripper hoist mechanism to place a motor into the fixture. Once the operator is clear of the light curtain and activates the touch button, the doors close as automatic clamps secure the motor; it is lowered to interface with a coupling mechanism connected to a braking motor. A barcode scanner scans a motor tag and employee ID badge, relaying that information to the plant database and retrieving test parameters. A custom hydraulic power unit pumps oil through the motor at a rate specified by said test parameters and controlled via a PC or PLC. The stand performs a torque test wherein the brake motor opposes the motion of the hydraulic motor up to a specified torque and records the relevant data (torque, flow rate, motor speed, pressure differential), providing a pass or fail. This test is optionally run with reverse flow; optional low flow and high flow delta pressure tests are subsequently run. Oil cleanliness is also monitored. Data is recorded in the plant database, and the motor is raised and released as the doors open.
