Huff Technologies created a high speed test system to test the switching characteristics of CAN based automotive shifters. The shifter employed a small, linear servo motor to press the button at different speeds and forces. A high speed data acquisition and laser measurement system was used to log position, force, and up to six switch voltages at speeds of up to 10 kHz. The data was captured, saved, and analyzed to capture switch voltage at given positions and forces.
