Folding Shifter Tester
Huff Technologies folding shifter tester tests the function of a folding lever-style shifter. A servo motor with attached lever arm interfaces with the shifter knob via an adjustable knob-capturing fixture. The fixture can be engaged and disengaged via another servo motor driving a rack and pinion mechanism. Compact electric solenoids (or optional pneumatic actuators) are in place to press the interlock release mechanism as well as “Stow” and “Manual” buttons as needed. The test sequence is pre-determined by the user via configuration of a test profile; this test profile also determines the number of cycles and data collection parameters. This system is capable of simulating loads on the shifter when locked in place, cycling the shifter through its various positions, or any combination thereof.
This system communicates with the shifter over ethernet via CAN protocol to read the state of the shifter as well as to communicate necessary information to the shifter in order for it to function properly. Each station functions independently and can be programmed to operate under a different test profile. This system can be used with an environmental chamber.
