EGR Cooler Thermal Shock System
The EGR Cooler Thermal Shock System was designed to test the thermal durability of EGR coolers used on various vehicles. The system would test up to four units simultaneously. The test included shocking the cooler with air heated with a natural gas burner and pump by a roots blower system between ambient and 1450F at pressures up to 100 psi. It also pumped cooled antifreeze through the system and could also shock the EGR Coolers by running them dry then pumping the coolant through them on demand. These tests run 24/7 for months on end. Data was taken every second and stored to a solid state drive.
